Sim Gear — Overview
What is Sim Gear?
Section titled “What is Sim Gear?”Sim Gear answers the question: “Which combination of the gear I already have (or could get) gives me the most DPS?”
You select items from your equipped gear, bags, and optionally search for unowned items. The app simulates every possible combination and ranks them by DPS.
When to Use Sim Gear
Section titled “When to Use Sim Gear”- You just got a new item and want to know if it’s better than what you’re wearing
- You have multiple trinkets and want to find the best pair
- You want to optimize your gems and enchants alongside gear choices
- You have several ring options and want to find the best combination with enchants
How It Works
Section titled “How It Works”- Paste your SimC export — the app detects your equipped gear and bag items
- Select items to compare per slot — each slot shows equipped + bag + unowned items
- Optionally add gem and enchant options to optimize alongside gear
- Click Run — the app simulates all combinations in one SimC process
- Review results — ranked by DPS with delta vs your currently equipped gear
Key Concepts
Section titled “Key Concepts”Combinations
Section titled “Combinations”The total simulated combinations are the cartesian product of your selections. If you pick 3 trinkets in slot 1 and 2 trinkets in slot 2, that’s 3 x 2 = 6 combinations. Adding gem and enchant options multiplies further.
The 1,000 Combination Cap
Section titled “The 1,000 Combination Cap”The app caps at 1,000 combinations to prevent extremely long runs. The combination counter shows your current count and warns you as you approach limits.
Smart Sim
Section titled “Smart Sim”For runs with 50+ combinations, the app uses a multi-stage simulation that eliminates clearly worse options early. This makes large runs up to 30x faster without sacrificing accuracy on the top results.
