Installation

  • World of Warcraft with the SimulationCraft addon installed
  • macOS (Apple Silicon or Intel) or Windows (x64)
  1. Download the latest release for your platform from GitHub Releases
  2. Run the installer:
    • macOS: Open the .dmg, drag the app to Applications
    • Windows: Run the .exe installer or the .msi package

On macOS, the first time you open the app you may see a Gatekeeper warning (“app can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer”). To bypass this:

  1. Right-click (or Control-click) the app in Finder
  2. Select Open from the context menu
  3. Click Open in the dialog

You only need to do this once. The app automatically handles the quarantine flag on the bundled SimC binary.

  1. Log into WoW on the character you want to optimize
  2. Open your chat window and type /simc
  3. A window appears with your character’s export string — press Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C to copy it
  4. Open WoW Gear Sim and paste the string

The app parses your character and shows your name, realm, spec, and all gear organized by slot. From here, you can use either feature:

Sim Gear — “What’s my best setup?”

Section titled “Sim Gear — “What’s my best setup?””

Select items from your equipped gear and bags, add gem and enchant options, and simulate every combination. Best for when you just got new gear and want to find the optimal setup.

Drop Finder — “What should I farm next?”

Section titled “Drop Finder — “What should I farm next?””

Select a content source (raid, dungeon, world bosses), and the app simulates every possible drop against your current gear. Best for planning which content to run.
